    主讲人Prof. Huang Weimin received his Ph.D degree from Cambridge University, UK. He is currently an Associate Professor (tenured) at the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He has 20 years of experience on shape memory materials (alloy, polymer, composite and hybrid). He has published over 100 papers in journals, such as Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, Materials Today, Soft Matter, and Journal of Materials Chemistry, and has been invited to review manuscripts from over 140 international journals (including Progress in Polymer Science, Advanced Materials, Advanced functional materials, Small and biomaterials, etc), project proposals from American Chemical Society, Hong Kong Research Grants Council, etc, and book proposals from CRC. He has published two books (Thin film shape memory alloys – fundamentals and device applications, Polyurethane shape memory polymers) and is currently on the editorial board of over a dozen of international journals.

    报告内容:A few new shape memory phenomena have been reported recently, and right now, we have seen a range of shape memory materials (SMMs), from alloys and ceramics to polymers and gels, developed and well documented in the literature.

    The interesting feature of the shape memory effect (SME), which is different from the shape change effect (SCE) in utilizing traditional materials and is behind all shape memory phenomena, provides us with many new approaches for advanced applications, in which conventional approaches may have difficulties to cope with.

    In this talk, a brief review of the various shape memory phenomena in SMMs is presented. The fundamentals behind them are discussed. The important features of the advanced shape memory technology are explained. Typical applications in the whole life cycle of products, from design, fabrication to repairing/recycling, are revealed to demonstrate the potential advantages of this technology.
